My work centers on data normalization, controlled vocabularies, visualization, and data migration — with hands-on experience in asset copyright and digital asset management.

In my spare time, I enjoy building clean, functional websites for small businesses and non-profits.

I’m a Data Manager focused on bringing order to complex information.

Hi, my name is Amy.

Work Experience

Collections Systems Administrator

Aug 2022 - Present

Peabody Essex Museum

Since 2022, I’ve served as the Collections Systems Administrator, managing the intersection of technology and collections data. I led the museum’s migration to a new Digital Asset Management System and integrated it with the Collection Management System, streamlining image workflows and expanding access across departments.

Beyond the technical work, I focus on usability and adoption — building scalable training materials, supporting staff through system transitions, and ensuring that tools are accessible and effective. Collaborating with vendors and internal teams, I make sure our systems evolve to serve both the museum’s collection and the people who care for it.

I led the upgrade from an older, server-based MuseumPlus database to a modern, web-based system that not only improved performance and usability but also laid the groundwork for future API integrations. Beyond the technical work, I created and delivered training for more than 100 staff members and authored clear, user-friendly documentation to guide consistent data practices across departments.

Collaborating closely with curators, registrars, and IT, I helped establish shared metadata standards that continue to ensure data integrity and support cross-departmental collaboration.

July 2020 - Aug 2022

Assistant Registrar for Exhibitions

As Assistant Registrar for Exhibitions, I managed incoming loans and PEM-organized traveling exhibitions, handling loan documents, lender and venue correspondence, and data entry with precision. Collaborating closely with multiple departments, I helped streamline exhibition workflows and maintain accurate records across systems, laying the groundwork for my later work in collections management and database migrations. This role strengthened my organizational and multi-tasking skills while giving me a deep understanding of the logistical, administrative, and data-related aspects of museum exhibitions.

Jan 2019 - July 2020

Collections Specialist

As a Collections Specialist, I collaborated with a team to plan and execute the relocation of over 35,000 artifacts to a new storage facility within a tight seven-week timeframe. I supervised contractors handling packing and transportation, ensuring the collection was moved safely and efficiently. This project strengthened my skills in logistics, project coordination, and attention to detail, and reinforced my commitment to preserving the integrity of the museum’s collections.
